Growth in the Midland Clinical Portal continues, with more than 4 million patient events now recorded in the regional portal.
This means clinicians throughout the Midland region now have access to information on more than 770,000 registered patients, including more than 2,880,000 patient documents – all through the Midland Clinical Portal (MCP). Quick and easy access to this regional information enables clinicians to make better clinical decisions, resulting in better clinical outcomes for patients – regardless of where in the region they present for treatment.
The MCP is an electronic platform providing a single point of access to patient information from all five of the Midland District Health Boards: Bay of Plenty DHB, Hauora Tairāwhiti, Lakes DHB, Taranaki DHB and Waikato DHB. It is being developed by the eSPACE Programme in line with the Ministry of Health’s Digital Health 2020 strategy.
Clinicians currently have read-only access to information on the portal, which went live in July 2017. This is Phase One of the programme and work continues to improve the range and functionality of the current system. eSPACE is also working towards Phase Two for initial release in June to October 2019. Phase Two will allow clinicians to read and create information in the MCP.
