The Midland Clinical Portal – MCP – has just reached its first milestone for 2018: more than 1,000,000 documents have been uploaded since September 2017, from the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, Lakes and Taranaki DHB regions.
Reaching this record in mid-January 2018, the portal has also recorded:
- Over 500,000 registered patients;
- Nearly 3 million patient encounters; and
- Over 400,000 emergency events.
The MCP provides a single point of access for clinical information from across the Midland region, and went live in August 2017 in conjunction with local systems. Eventually, MCP will provide a single view of patient information across the five regions.
Drastically reducing paperwork, administration and processing costs across all levels of health services, MCP will also help save lives by reducing risk and increasing the accuracy of available information.
The eSPACE Programme team will continue to build upon the MCP foundation over the next three years, including expanding its functionality and utility.
The Programme is closely aligned to the Ministry of Health’s Digital Health 2020 strategy, in its aim to implement a national electronic health record.
